Here's how to get involved:
and we provide a proactive means of engaging Indigenous participation through training and community development. We remain strong in our commitment to promote the Aboriginal Community positively and invest back into the Aboriginal Theatre Industry with the on-going nurturing of emerging Aboriginal writers and theatre workers.
As a priority, Yirra Yaakin offer opportunities for Indigenous people to learn both the technical and administrative mechanics of Aboriginal Theatre. Our training program is facilitated in-house.
We are providers of hands on skills development in a wide range of theatre practices inclusive of Arts Management, staging, production and performing. These are transferable skills, equal to those acquired in the broader industry. We are the only Aboriginal Cultural organisation to run such a large and ongoing training/mentoring program dedicated to the performing arts industry.
The Community Program focuses on youth arts, local participation and also events that are of major benefit to the Aboriginal Community. We have built and maintained a reputation of excellence in reaching audiences by providing materials that have a strong base in Aboriginal Culture and Community through schools residencies, tours, events management, promotion through festivals and until recently workshops.
Yirra Yaakin Noongar Theatre continues to excel in its commitment to the development and nurturing of Aboriginal people in the Arts Industry and continues to stand as a model of Indigenous self-determination and innovation.
