From its inception 18 years ago, Yirra Yaakin has maintained a strong focus on education and youth programs, developing more than 10 original youth-focused productions in that time and undertaking scores of residencies and workshops across the state. With its latest season the company brings educators and the state’s youth a tantalizing new selection of plays, designed to make students think, question their preconceptions and expand their knowledge of theatre as well as contemporary and traditional Indigenous culture.

Selected school performances are accompanied by a free Q&A session after the performance, allowing students to engage with the creative team behind the production and learn more about the process of producing quality Indigenous theatre. Comprehensive educational resource packages are also available for each production.
