Here's how to get involved:
HEADSPACE was written by Maude Sketchley and was performed by Della Morrison and Barbara Baugh. This was our first professional productions to tour schools and was a coproduction with Barking Gecko. HEADSPACE was heavily booked and was one of the most successful shows in terms of box office.
by Geoffrey Narkle and David Milroy, directed by David Milroy
In a time divided by inequality and injustice comes the story of Geoffrey Narkle, the ’Barker Bulldog’ whose fighting spirit brought him the strength to turn away from a downward spiral of drink and despair and find peace within.
This critically acclaimed play strikes at the very heart of the Stolen Generation, exploring the impact on an individual and a Culture when relationships are brutally broken.
Often told with great humour, KING HIT will foster understanding of a chapter in Australia’s recent history that largely remains untold.
PRODUCTION NOTES:
KING HIT was written by Geoffrey Narkle and David Milroy. Though box office was down the impact of this show both artistically and politically was immense. KING HIT was a coproduction between the Centre for Aboriginal studies at the University of Western Australia and Yirra Yaakin. KING HIT had a strong community focus in developing the script and in it’s presentation. KING HIT is expected to tour in 1998.
Yirra Yaakin started 1997 with a big splash. RUNUMUK was performed in the Festival of Perth and involved Aboriginal people at all levels of production. It was well received by Perth audiences and as word of mouth spread, audience numbers grew. This production involved six local Aboriginal performers and two non Aboriginal performers.
